Guesthouse Langaholt

Langaholt is located on the south side of Snæfellsnes Peninsula, embraced by fantastic nature. The view to the north is the magnificent mountain range and to the south a golden beach and to the west stands the majestic Snæfellsjökull Glacier in all its glory.

Langaholt has an ambitious fish restaurant, were every traveler can get fresh fish from the area all day long. There are 40 en-suite bathrooms at Langaholt plus a camping site as well as a 9-hole "Links" golf course.

Olkelda mineral spring

At the farm Olkelda, near Stadarstadur, in the south of Snaefellsnes, there is a mineral spring with carbonated water.

Mineral springs are said to have healing properties, so feel free to take a sip.

The farmhouse is named Olkelda which means mineral spring in Icelandic.

The beach near the farm Ytri-Tunga is a well-known seal colony. The best time to see seals there is in June and July.

History and Culture

Ari-the-Wise served as a priest at Stadastadur from 1067-1148. He is well-known for his Book of Icelanders, the first work of history written in Iceland.

The place is also the setting of a very known novel by the Nobel price winning Icelandic author Halldor Kiljan Laxness: "Under the glacier".
