One thing that makes us unique is that we take the time to give each rider a prep lesson in our large indoor arena before heading out on the trail for a scenic ride. This is to ensure that you're comfortable on your horse and prepared for your ride. Hömluholt Cottages and horsebreeding farm.  Hömluholt is located on the southern part of the Snæfellsnes peninsula by the Hafursfell mountain. A distance of 54 km from Borgarnes, 75 km from Reykjavík and 600 meters from the main road Snæfellsnesvegur.  Beautiful scenic views of the nearby mountains and of the seashore Löngufjörur are from Hömluholt. They offer 1-3 hour long horseback riding tours along the golden sandy beach where variety of bird species and seals can be seen.  Hömluholt from a different angle

Dalahestar horse rental is a small, family owned business. We offer personalized tours for individuals or smaller groups. Our main tours are alongside the beautiful river Laxá and down to the black sandshores of Hvammfjörður fjord and a beach tour that goes further into the fjord with the possibility of seeing seals as well as the white tailed eagle.  Please contact for tours and booking information. 

1-2 hour riding tours in beautiful surroundings on the banks of the Hvitá River, which is a glacial river flowing from Eiriksjökull Glacier. There are excellent facilities in a brand new riding arena which is specially designed for wheel chair users and the disabled. Horses of all capabilities. Lýsuhóll is a small family business. Accommodation offered in cosy little cottages and a guesthouse with double and single rooms. There is a restaurant and horse back riding tours are offered.  During summer you can rent six cosy little summer cottages which consist of a bedroom, a living-room, a small kitchen, shower and toilet and are ideal for two or four people, especially families. From all the cottages you have a fantastic view of the glacier Snæfellsjökull, the mountains and the sea. Accommodation is also available in two bigger houses with 4 rooms each which can be used all year round. There are two twin/double rooms, one single and a big family room. They all have a washing basis in the room and share two bathrooms with showers. There is a kitchen with all the basic equipment and a cosy sitting and dining room. There is a hot tub on the veranda. Horse riding tours offered on the Snæfellsnes peninsula, mostly along the wide beaches of Iceland's most beautiful horse riding area "Löngufjörur". Longer and shorter guided horse riding tours available upon request. Swimmingpool and hot tub nearby the farm (with warm mineral water directely from the ground).

Want to get to know the Icelandic horse? The Visiting HorseFarm at Sturlu-Reykir (route 518) is a good place to do so. It specializes in welcoming those who just want to meet this world-famous breed in a friendly environment. Visiting HorseFarm is run by the couple Hrafnhildur and Jóhannes who have been practicing horsemanship all their lives in Borgarfjörður.
