Two species of seals live and breed in Icelandic waters and shores, the harbour seal (Phoca vitulina) and the grey seal (Halichoerus grypus) and few other seal species visit Iceland, irregularly.

Seals at Ytri-Tunga
Ytri Tunga beach offers easy access to a seal colony where seals can be seen all year round, set in a beautiful and accessible natural environment. It is important to respect the animals, give the seals plenty of space, and avoid getting too close to them.
