The Settlement Center in Borgarnes
Offering a wealth of information, the Settlement Center provides a wonderful insight into Iceland’s history. It also gives you the chance to put your visit into the context of the country’s past. The exhibitions recreate the fascinating drama of the sagas and the birth of this island nation. They also bring to life one of Iceland’s most important cultural treasures, Egils Saga.
Snaefellsjokull National Park
The Visitor´s Centre is full of information and facts about life around the Glacier. The theme of the display is the fishermen of the ancient fishing stations in the area and their use of nature as a means of livelihood. All senses are appealed to as guests are encouraged to taste, smell and try out various parts of the display.  It is possible for visitors of any age to find something fun and interesting to do at the Visitor´s Centre.    The Snæfellsjökull National Park is the first national park in Iceland, the boundaries of which reach out into the sea. Indeed, in many people‘s opinion, it is high time the sea and shore were given their due respect. After all, Icelanders have lived close to the ocean from the time of the Settlement in the 9th century and the Park‘s uniqueness has its roots in the harmony between man and sea. The park is perfect for exploring the adventurous world of the ocean, coastline and beach, seabirds and other life in and around the sea. Allthough the marine factor is the pride of the Park, it is also a marvel for those interested in geology - and especially volcanology. Conditions for bird watching are good; birdlife is abundant both by the coast and in the lowlands. Snæfellsjökull glacier is also famous for the great powers and energy that many spiritually minded people sense when close to it. It is said to be one of the seven great energy centres of the earth.
