Husky Iceland
The family behind Husky Iceland: Husky Iceland is a small, family-run company located just outside Reykjavik, at Fitjakot Farm. The Siberian huskies are at the heart of our lives; they’re not only our passion but also our beloved family members. Primarily house dogs, we train them year-round, keeping things varied and exciting. Whether we’re sledding, cross-country skiing, cycling, scootering, inline skating, jogging, or simply walking, our goal is always to ensure both the dogs and humans are having fun. Well-exercised and well-fed dogs make the happiest house pets! We’re active participants in sled dog competitions across Iceland, from the south to the north, and we also take part in exhibitions at HRFÍ. There’s nothing more rewarding than bringing out the best in our dogs, and this vibrant, joyful lifestyle keeps us motivated and brings us endless happiness.  The Kennel: When you visit Husky Iceland, you'll step into a world of purebred Siberian Huskies, where you can interact with these stunning, friendly dogs up close. As you wander through the kennel, you’ll meet each husky, known for their playful energy and striking appearance, with their thick fur coats and bright blue or multicolored eyes. After spending time with the dogs, you can relax by the open fire, enjoying warm refreshments like hot chocolate or coffee, all while taking in the cozy, welcoming atmosphere of the farm. It's a perfect chance to unwind, connect with nature, and experience the charm of these incredible dogs in a peaceful, scenic setting.  At Husky Iceland, the well-being of our dogs is our top priority. During the summer, the adjacent river Leirvogsa offers a perfect spot for the huskies to cool down after long hikes, and they have the chance to swim and enjoy the refreshing waters. Our modern, secure kennels are built to the highest Icelandic animal welfare standards, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for every dog. Elevated benches provide shade during warmer months, while the integrated ground/flooring offers a cozy resting place. For winter, the kennels are insulated to protect the dogs from Iceland's extreme cold. With a large run, the dogs have plenty of space to play and enjoy themselves, and to strengthen their bond with their two-legged friends, the huskies can take turns staying overnight in the house with us. This helps to enhance their social interactions and enrich their lives outside of their training routines. Additionally, we offer individually bookable husky tours in both summer and winter, allowing guests to spend quality time with our dogs and provide a welcome break from their athletic schedules. For their medical care, we work closely with an experienced veterinarian who specializes in sled dogs, ensuring they receive the best possible attention and care whenever needed. AtHusky Iceland, we go the extra mile to ensure our huskies are happy, healthy, and always ready for the next adventure!
