They are everywhere. Quite a few are in the capital and larger towns, but some can be
found in the most unlikely places such as an old barracks in a field or a shed by the sea.

Nesbrauð
Great selection of freshly-baked, high quality breads, including sourdough and health bread. There is also a good choice of baked goods, freshly-made sandwiches and salads as well as the delicious soup of the day. We also offer great coffees.  
The Leif Eiriksson Center
The Leif Eiriksson center is an exciting destination for all ages, where stories of the voyages of Erik the Red and his son Leif the Lucky (also called Leifur Eiríksson), discovering parts of Greenland, Canada and the US, are presented in a new exhibition, consisting of works from ten renowned Icelandic visual artists. An audio guide will lead you through the history as you view the magical world of the exhibition. Afterwards you can enjoy a quick bite to eat or some good coffee on the ground floor.  Open daily from May to October. 
Rock´n´ Troll Café
Rock ´n´ Troll Bistro Café Rock ´n´ Troll Bistro Café is open all year around. The menu offers a mix of local and international food during, breakfast, dinner and coffee refreshments in between. Lunch is only available during main season. As the name indicates music and trolls play important roles in the restaurant as it features a big vinyl record collection and troll books written by the owner and troll illustrations on the walls. In addition, the restaurant offers a unique location with view over the Troll Waterfalls.
Country Hotel Fossatún
Fossatún is located 90 km from Reykjavík by road nr 50. It is surrounded by beautiful nature and scenery in the Mid-Borgarfjörður area. Fossatún is an ideal destination for shorter and longer stays. Country HotelThe Country Hotel offers 18,2 m2 comfortable standard rooms with ensuite bathrooms. There are 12 rooms (double and twin available), and all are wheelchair accessible. Each room has a different decoration and a flat-screen TV with international channels, as well as free Wi-Fi, available outdoors and indoors. Breakfast is included in the price. All rooms come with bed linen and towels. GuesthouseThe guesthouse is just 250m from Fossatún Reception and it has a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, living room, 4 rooms and 2 bathrooms. Free Wi-Fi and access to all Fossatún facilities. The Sunset Cottage  is only 35 metrs from the service house  (hot tubs). The Sunset Cottage has it name for a reason and is a 42m2 two bedroom house with kitchen facilities and a bathroom.  Camping PodsThe camping pods are the newest type of accommodation at Fossatún and they provide a warm and comfortable stay to our guests. Guests need to bring everything they would bring if they were camping: sleeping bags, pots and pans, etc., but there is an added luxury of space, warmth, dryness, electricity and a good bed to sleep in. The pod is divided into a sleeping area and a lounge. The lounge has a table, 2 chairs and a bench. In the sleeping area there is a bed for two persons with special matress of fabric that breathes, is water resistant and bacteria free. Inside there are also electrical radiators, lights, sockets and Wi-Fi available. Showers and toilets are open 24/7 on the same building as the hot tubs, a few metres away from the pods. Guests have also access to a Cooking Cabin, which includes a fridge, microwave, stove, tea kettle, pans, and a dining area. Most of our camping pods are only available from 1st of April to 31st of October, but a new type, more insulated is now available from November to March.  Restaurant"Rock and Troll" is the restaurant´s slogan. The Record CollectionWhen having dinner, customers can choose one record from Steinar´s vinyl collection, which includes more than 3.000 records, and our staff will happily put it to play. This incredible collection belongs to Steinar Berg, the host at Fossatún and a man with a great love for music. Steinar was born in 1952 and between 1975 and 1993 he was the owner of a music company, Steinar Records, which was involved with many of Iceland´s best musical talents. Troll-storiesSteinar Berg is also a writer of troll-stories that are illustrated by Brian Pilkington. The books are available, autographed and on special offer at the reception. Troll-walkGuests can take a troll-walk while enjoying the beautiful surrounding and view. Geirabakarí Café Konditori
Geirabakarí is a bakery located in Borgarnes, only an hour‘s drive from Reykjavík. The bakery offers a variety of cakes and pastries as well as club sandwiches. It also offers good quality coffee and tea or hot chocolate. If you are not very hungry but longing for a treat then Geirabakarí is the place to go with its comfortable surroundings and an amazing view.
Hjá Góðu Fólki
Hjá Góðu fólki is a small café and art house. We work with produce from Snæfellsnes and salad, herbs and flowers from the greenhouses at Ræktunarstöðin Lágafell. The nursery (ræktunarstöðin) cultivates ecologically grown salads and herbs, using geothermal energy from the local area. We have put a lot of work into making our little house warm and cosy and welcome all who visit with speciality coffee and home-made food and pastries.

Hverinn-Sælureitur í sveitinni is a travel service offering accommodation, restaurant, camping and a small travelers store with a farmer’s market corner. Camping Site The camping offers 100 places for tents and campers including 60 with electricity. There is also one triple room with private bathroom. Apartment An apartment 42 sqm of size with a living room with double sofa bed, bath with shower and a kitchen, two bedrooms with two single beds in each room, sleeping four persons. Hot tub and Swimming Pool A private hot-tub is available to room renters and the local swimming pool is only a 2 minute walk away.

Gilbakki is a cute cafe/bistro in one of the most beautiful house in Hellissandur. At Gilbakki we offer quality fish-soup and bread, coffee from the Icelandic coffee roster Kaffitár and homemade cakes.  Open from June 1st 11:00-17:00, seven days a week. 
Hraunfossar Restaurant
A new restaurant, café and giftshop at Hraunfossar Waterfalls. We bid you welcome and offer a buffet with a good choice of courses. Enjoy our coffee, cakes and sandwiches, hot and cold drinks as well as ice-cream. We have a big porch where you can enjoy the view and your meal. We also sell souvenirs and local art. Fishing licences for fishing at Arnarvatsheiði are available here.
Vegamót Coffee
Vegamót offers Icelandic hospitality at it's best with expert knowledge of the local area. We bake fresh bread and cakes on site each day and use seasonal ingredients from local farmers.

Blómasetrið - Kaffi Kyrrð invites you to enter into an enchanted world that is located in the old town of Borgarnes, a stone's throw away from the Settlement Center, the famous Bjössaróló playground and next to Englendingavík bay. Here guests are offered to nourish body, soul and mind in a variety of ways. Blómasetrið - Kaffi Kyrrð is a café, gift shop and guesthouse. Hotel Bifröst
Hotel Bifrost is a cosy hotel at a very beautiful and scenic location at the heart of Borgarfjordur. The hotel is located at the Icelandic ring-road - highway no. one - 102 km distance from Reykjavík and is therefore only one and half an hours drive away from Iceland´s capital.At Hotel Bifrost there are 52 spaceous, cosy, light rooms for two persons each. All the rooms have a separate WC and a shower, satellite TV and an internet connection. The hotel is very accessible for disabled persons and there is an elevator in the hotel.The Hotel´s restaurant - Café Bifröst has seats for around 100 people. The restaurant emphasizes and offers a diversified and healthy menu, and is proud to use local raw materials.It is possible to book conferences, meetings or courses at the Hotel, as there are available meeting locations and auditories of all types and sizes.
Húsafell Bistró
Húsafell Bistró is nestled between lava fields and glaciers, just a few km from the unique lava waterfall Hraunfossar. Open daily, serving various courses. In June, July and August we are open between 11:30 and 17:00 and 18:00-21:00. We offer a lunch buffet which is ideal before embarking on your day tour. The convenience store in the location is open 11:30 to 21:00 in June, July and August, but 11:30 to 17:00 on saturdays during other seasons.
War and Peace Museum
The unique and remarkable history of the occupation period in Iceland 1940-45 unfolds at the War and Peace Museum. Our exhibition tells the story of how a peaceful countryside was transformed, in the context of world events and its importance to the victory of the Allies in World War 2. Here you can explore our high-quality collection of artifacts and feel the memories from this fateful time of upheaval. During your stop you can relax in our cozy café "The White Falcon", which serves light meals and Icelandic delicacies and check out our collection of souvenirs in the gift shop. Open 1st June - 26th August: Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 13:00 to 17:00, Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 to 17:00. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Large camping ground for tents and campers. Electric outlets are available and the camping ground has two large charcoal grills, a playground for the children and good restroom facilities. Showers are available and dishwashing facilities as well. The area also offers a dumping station for portable toilets. The camping site is open from June 1st - August 26th.
