Á Camping Ground
The older camp site is located in a beautiful spot in a small forest near the rocks. The new camp site is close to the farm. By the older camp site is a toilet and sinks with cold water only. Next to the new camp site is a new service house with 3 toilets as well as cold and hote water. It is also possible to get electricity as the camp site has 24 outlets. There is access to a 100 square meter large old barn that has 10 tables and chairs, cooking facilities, microwave oven and hot and cold water. This is in a beautiful location on the south of the fjord Breiðarfjörður. There are many beautiful walking paths.
Bjarteyjarsandur / Touch Iceland
The Bjarteyjarsandur farm is owned and operated by three different families, all specializing in their different fields; i.e. farming, tourism, education, food processing, and machine work. The farm is situated in a beautiful by the fjord with a lovely seashore. The same family has lived in Bjarteyjarsandur since 1887. The Bjarteyjarsandur Family Farm welcomes guests all year round for seasonal farm visits and activities, local food, and guided tours. There is accommodation available for all guests on our friendly campsite, in our mountain cottages, and in the old farmhouse.  We welcome you to visit a working sheep farm, where you can experience real Icelandic sheep farming. A great way to dive into Icelandic culture and experience the crisp fresh air of rural Iceland. Activities such as sheep shearing, wild mussel picking, and more, vary from season to season, however tours run year-round. Bjarteyjarsandur Farm emphasises high quality products, produced in an environmentally sustainable way. We produce free-range lamb, pigs, and chicken, organic vegetables, wild berries, and a variety of produce from our protected seashore.     Guided tours - Hvalfjordur is an area with an abundance of hiking trails and possibilities. Whether you are looking for a short relaxing walk or a long and challenging hike, Hvalfjordur has something to offer. The nearby fjord has a rich history and offers a beautiful view of the local nature, geology, and cultural monuments. Bjarteyjarsandur is a tour operator, offering guided tours around the fjord with a designated Geographer in charge of guiding and organizing tours. Cottages - at Bjarteyjarsandur you can rent fully equipped cottages with two to three bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, a ”hot pot”, and a barbecue on the patio. The cottages are located on the mountain above the farm, and they have a beautiful view. There are several good hiking trails in the neighbourhood and guided tours are available for groups or individuals. The cottages are rented out on a weekly and/or daily basis. Camping - Bjarteyjarsandur offers a homey, friendly, and quiet atmosphere at our campsite, which is located below the farm houses. It is an ideal place for hikers, bikers, and families alike. Campers have the option to cook their own meal (upon request), or buy local food from the farm. Using the shower and Wi-Fi, is included in the price. Guests can take a short walk to the seashore in the evening sun or morning breeze, which we highly recommend! The beach has a very relaxing atmosphere for walks, and if you ask the locals, they may let you use their ‘Hot Pot,’ which is one of Iceland’s best kept secrets. Rates 2021:Adults: 1.700,- kr.Children, 4 - 14 years: 750,- kr.Children, 3 years and younger: freeElectricity: 1.000,- kr. pr night Sleeping Bag Accommodation / The Old Farmhouse - Bjarteyjarsandur farm has an old farm house, built in 1930, in which you can stay in if you are looking for sleeping-bag accommodation. There are 2 rooms available on the second floor of the house, one family room with a double bed and two single beds, and the other room is very small with 2 single beds. There is a self-catering kitchen on the ground floor, as well as a small bathroom/WC. The shower is located in the service building next door, which also facilitates the Farmhouse Restaurant and gift shop. The service building also offers TV and Wi-Fi. Agriculture - at Bjarteyjarsandur, we try to work in a way which promotes an ecological and sustainable way of life. We are respectful of nature and try to minimize the impacts we have on the surrounding environment. We inform our guests and customers about the different values of the area we live in and how to be respectful of them. Farm animals - Bjarteyjarsandur is a sheep farm with roughly 600 sheep. There are also other animals on the farm such as; Icelandic settlement hens, Border Collie dogs, Icelandic horses, rabbits, 2 feisty goats, and free range pigs during the summer time. Refreshments - the farmhouse restaurant is in a building that used to be a barn, which is where its namesake comes from; Hlaðan (The Barn). The menu consists of local products from the farm and its surroundings. It is possible to book a farm visits, meals, and other services, with 3-4 days' notice.  Farm food direct /Gallery - at Bjarteyjarsandur farm you can also buy seasonal products such as jams, chutneys, or even meat. Local craftspeople also sell some of their art at Bjarteyjarsandur, like wool sweaters, jars and plates from clay, greeting cards, candles and much more.  Please note, that May is an extremely busy time at the farm due to lambing season. During that period it is necessary to book a Farm visit/Hug a lamb tour in advance.
Búðardalur Camping Ground
The Budardalur camping site is located within a beautiful grove. When arriving from the south (route 60) you will see the camping site on your left. The Budardalur camping site is a great site for tents since you have the trees sheltering the tent on windy days. The site has many features such as a convenience store, coffee shop, soccer field, playground and a beach volley ball field. A bathing area is located on the ground floor of the Dalabud service house.
