Akranes Folk Museum
At the Akranes Folk Museum, you can learn about the history of Akranes and its surroundings. The museum was founded and opened in the year 1959 and can be found at Garðaholt 3. Opening hours: Summer: May 15th - September 14th: every day from 11:00-17:00Winter: September 15th - May 14th: Saturdays 13:00-17:00, or upon request Hægt er að leigja stúkuhúsið undir fundarhöld. 
Hvammsvík Hot Springs
Hvammsvík Hot Springs offers eight natural hot springs of varying temperatures, situated along the shoreline and merging with the tides for an ever changing experience. You are immersed in a perfect fusion of geothermal water, flowing from our very own source 1400 meters underground, with seawater straight from the Atlantic ocean. After a soak we recommend trying some of our delicious dishes inspired by our surroundings.  Come immerse yourself in unfiltered Icelandic nature, only 45 minutes from Reykjavík.  Pre-booking required.
Akranes Swimming Pool
The swimming pool at Jaðarsbakka is a 5 lane, 25-meter outdoor pool. There is a sauna and a water slide. The hot tub area was renovated in 2017 and there is now a small children's pool and two hot tubs. Opening hours: Weekdays: 06:00-21:00 Weekends: 09:00-18:00  
Bjarteyjarsandur Farm
The Bjarteyjarsandur farm is owned and operated by three different families, all specializing in their different fields; i.e. farming, tourism, education, food processing, and machine work. The farm is situated in a beautiful by the fjord with a lovely seashore. The same family has lived in Bjarteyjarsandur since 1887. The Bjarteyjarsandur Family Farm welcomes guests all year round for seasonal farm visits and activities, local food, and guided tours. There is accommodation available for all guests on our friendly campsite, in our mountain cottages, and in the old farmhouse.  We welcome you to visit a working sheep farm, where you can experience real Icelandic sheep farming. A great way to dive into Icelandic culture and experience the crisp fresh air of rural Iceland. Activities such as sheep shearing, wild mussel picking, and more, vary from season to season, however tours run year-round. Bjarteyjarsandur Farm emphasises high quality products, produced in an environmentally sustainable way. We produce free-range lamb, pigs, and chicken, organic vegetables, wild berries, and a variety of produce from our protected seashore.  Only open for groups upon request.
Guðlaug Baths
At Langisandur Beach you can take a swim in the sea and enjoy the view from the comfort of Guðlaug Baths hot pools which can be found in Langisandur‘s rock garden.
Horse Centre Borgartún
Hestamiðstöðin Borgartún offers 1-2 hour riding tours in a beautiful nature on the outskirts of Akranes. Our tours are a wonderful experience for all those who want to try riding the Icelandic horse. Whether you are novice or experienced riders, young or old, these friendly horses with their nimble and willing nature are a pleasure to ride in their natural environment. We specialize in smaller groups with a personalized service and we are open all year round. When the weather is not on our side we can always ride inside.
Leynir Golf Club
Garðavöllur, the Akranes Golf Course, is an 18-hole course in West Iceland. Renowned for its beautiful surroundings, good upkeep and excellent putting greens, the course is quite challenging. It has many bunkers in play, a fair amount of water and some trees. For the past few years it has been one of the top 5 championship courses in the country. Thor Photography specializes in photography tours and workshops. It is our goal to get you to unique locations at the right time for the best photographic results. Thorarinn Jonsson (Thor for short) is a professional landscape photographer leading workshops both in Iceland and internationally. Our goal is for you to bring home captivating images from your tour. We'll do our best to bring you to the right location based on weather, light and conditions in general. All our tours are teaching based where we will go over all aspects of capturing great images like camera settings, using filters, long exposure photography, what lens to use and ect.  Whether you are a beginner or a professional we'll customize our tour to your needs.
War and Peace Museum
The unique and remarkable history of the occupation period in Iceland 1940-45 unfolds at the War and Peace Museum. Our exhibition tells the story of how a peaceful countryside was transformed, in the context of world events and its importance to the victory of the Allies in World War 2. Here you can explore our high-quality collection of artifacts and feel the memories from this fateful time of upheaval. During your stop you can relax in our cozy café "The White Falcon", which serves light meals and Icelandic delicacies and check out our collection of souvenirs in the gift shop. Open 1st June - 26th August: Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 13:00 to 17:00, Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 to 17:00. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Large camping ground for tents and campers. Electric outlets are available and the camping ground has two large charcoal grills, a playground for the children and good restroom facilities. Showers are available and dishwashing facilities as well. The area also offers a dumping station for portable toilets. The camping site is open from June 1st - August 26th.
Akranes Lighthouses
The Akranes lighthouse is a delightful place to visit, any time of year. Away from bright lights, tourists and residents flock to the site in winter to catch a glimpse of the northern lights dancing and flickering in the sky. In the summer, you can see locals having a picnic outside the lighthouse, and guests are often invited in where they can climb to the top. Opening hours: Weekdays: 10:00-16:00 Weekends: 12:00-15:00
Hlaðir Swimming Pool
At Hlaðir you will find a cosy outdoor swimming pool. Spacious dressing rooms and a steam room are located in the basement. The pool is 16,67 x 8 meters and there is also a children´s pool with a toboggan and two hot tubs. Open Mondays - Fridays from 12:00 to 20:00 and Saturdays - Sundays from 10:00 to 20:00.
