Kerlingarskarð Run – Snæfellsnes
The Kerlingarskarð Run is a 14 km off-road race taking place on Saturday, May 23 at 11:00. It’s well suited for both experienced runners and those looking to use it as an early summer training run—especially in preparation for longer trail races.
The Route
The course follows a gravel track through the historic Kerlingarskarð pass on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Connecting the north and south sides of the peninsula, the route offers spectacular scenery, including views of the striking “Kerling” rock formation rising above the landscape.
The race begins on the northern side of the peninsula, near the turnoff to Kerlingarskarð, and finishes on the southern side. Bus transport from Stykkishólmur to the starting point (approximately a 10-minute drive) is expected.
Runners can expect one to two refreshment stations along the route.
