Sælingsdalur is a grassy valley, surrounded by low mountains to the northwest from the bottom of Hvammsfjörður.
For a long time there was a school in Sælingsdalslaug or in Laugar and good facilities for sports. There is a 25-meter outdoor pool with hot tubs, a sauna and a wading pool.
Dalahótel is a family hotel located just one km from highway no. 60 but from the hotel you can find numerous beautiful hiking trails, along with Gruðrúnarlaug, which is a natural pool located right above the hotel building.
Guðrúnarlaug is named after Guðrúna Ósvífursdóttir, one of the main characters of Laxdæla saga, but she was born and raised in Laugar. There is a lot of geothermal heat in the area, hot springs come from under the mountain and the hot water is used to heat all the houses in the area.
There is a trail map by the hotel building and there are four trails: Yellow trail, Green trail, Black trail and Red trail.
